Over the last few years I have had the pleasure of working with a leather maker/designer in Oregon. These slips are perfect in every way. The leather is a vegetable tanned leather which won`t hold moisture and does not contain any harmful chemicals. Therefor, the knives will be protected from corrosion or damage. Overtime, the leather will stretch to fit any knife. With this knife slip, you can either squeeze or push to have the knife ready for use!

Using an exclusive blend of waxes, oils and tallows, the leather company hot stuff these leathers to bring out their inherent beauty. Through a traditional process called jack glazing, oils are brought to the surface to create a glossy finish that never mask the leather’s natural grain. As a result, Traditional Harness leather is ideal for equestrian gear, yet, when split to a lower weight, it’s equally suitable for leather goods.

Perfect EDC

For the first time in many years I didn’t just pick up a good deal and then see what I’m going to get next. I’ve got many automatic knives, OTF, and flipper etc… what happened to me was how I felt after restoring a 100 year old or older folding knife. I was proud of it and I gave it away for auction and for a great reason. That got me thinking, why did I enjoy that old knife USA made and functional for its age. Suddenly all I wanted was a great knife with great steel but where do I start. The shop app! I see C. Risner and traditional knives and so it began. I love something named after a time in US history or something important during historical times.
The Lake Champlain is a cv-39 military boat used during the Korean War and the man on board started making knives. Charlie Risner!
C.Risner knives came to be! Made high carbon knives made to last. Now run by his ( grandson or great grandson Austin ) sorry Austin it’s not in front of me…
I see the Lake Champlain knife, read about the history find it in jigged Titanium very grippy and the blade steel M390 which is a favorite steel of mine.
The hollow ground sheep’s foot blade I have cut up boxes, rope and rags, branches on bushes, roots etc.. the performance excellent I haven’t had to strop it and it’s sticky sharp as it was out of the box. Even though it’s light as a feather you still feel like you have a substantial piece in hand! Let’s talk about the box! Everything printed on the outer shell and a post card of sorts has a lot to look and read about and it’s all biodegradable also a key point!! Even the leather slip that fit the knife was a bit to small so Austin sent me another one much better suited. I asked him if he would like the smaller slip sheath back, I was more than happy to pay the shipping to send it back, but he said I could keep it and I found a home for a knife that needed one.
Now Customer Service. I know I’m a new customer but I have to say that I had questions and got responded too within a normal timeframe and was made to feel like this is the start of a new relationship with a business who cares about their customers.
This knife will always be in my pocket. I have granddaughters x3 and one of them is very curious about the knife clips which I got away with saying these are just pens. She got smarter so I knew it was time to be more careful and she doesn’t ask anymore questions. I love the walk and talk of this knife and the classic lines.
The blade sits proud enough of the scales to be able to pinch and open, if you can’t there is a generous nail Nick, almost a fuller there to grab onto the blade. It’s more than just a great knife even when you make a purchase large or small the company is there always ready to help!!

Great Slip

The slip was well made and large enough to easily hold my larger slip joints. Highly recommend.

Perfect for my knife carry and protection needs

Fine, supple leather quickly conforms to the knife. I have been using the large size with the new Hellfire and it is a great combo.
